General Philosophy:

Since the clan started years ago, it keeps to some ancient traditions. Clan members are usually brought up to be conservative and well-bred members of society. It should be noted that the clan members are rarely ever seen going against tradition as the members of this clan are bred to believe that going against tradition is against the pinnacle of evil and would upset their god, Hachiman.

The clan members are never open about things that happen behind closed walls. Whatever happens in the clan, stays in the clan. Since the clan is big enough and wealthy enough to preserve their own little society within its walls, it is unlikely that family secrets are ever going to be spilled. Also, members of the clan are very proud of their own, and it has even become a law to never say anything negative about the family. They are raised to believe that their sept is superior and due to this, a majority of the children grow up to be arrogant.

Despite being traditional, women in this clan are also bred to be warriors. The clan believes that everyone is equal in terms of placement within their society, and women should be able to hold their own in order to coexist with others. Members of this clan usually specialize in weaponry [Kyudo].

Most of the clan members are very religious, however, there have been cases of people who don’t pray to Hachiman. These people usually come from the lower ranks of the clan. The clan members believe that these people lack faith because their god hasn’t blessed them with ability.

Clan Traditions:

• Tea Ceremonies - Members of this clan frequently host tea ceremonies. Members of this clan are very extreme about their tea. The type of tea served could affect the flow of the ceremony. Tea such as Matcha tea or Oolongcha tea are usually served in times of celebration. Kocha tea and Jasmine-cha tea are usually served in times of prayer. Genmaicha tea is served in times of death. And Ryokucha tea is often served when one is unwelcome to the household.
  
• Dress - Members of this clan usually dress up in traditional wear such as the use of Kimonos. Those still training to be ninjas are usually seen wearing dojo-attire such as hakama.
  
• Arts - Members of this clan usually take up some sort of art form. Most of the girls usually take up painting or calligraphy, while the guys tend to go for Kabuki theatre or music.
  
• Festivals - There comes a time where the clan opens up its gates to outsiders. These times are only during festivals. The clan keeps close watch on the outsiders as they fear they might cause trouble.
  

Unique Characteristics:

• Dark Hair - Members of this clan are usually born with dark colored hair such as brown or black. Members rarely have light hair color such as blonde, or light brown and there have been no cases recorded where members had bright neon colored hair.
  
• Lighter Eyes - Though most of the clan members have neutral brown eyes, several births of brighter eyes have been occurring more recently. Though blue eyed children in the clan is rare, it is not impossible. Clan members of recent generations have been having brighter eye colors than their former generations.
  

Properties Owned:

• Yumiya Compount - The Yumiya Compound is a small community built on one of Kirigakure’s islands. The houses within the compound are known to look traditional and their are many small shrines along the compound. It is a peaceful place with lots of sakura trees and small springs that flow between houses. The larger houses belong to the more fortunate people in the society.
  
• Yumiya Kyudojo - The Yumiya Kyudojo is one of the only dojos in Kirigakure that specialize in archery. It is a relatively old dojo that receives small renovations every few months and large scale renovations every few years. The dojo looks like that of a normal one except for the clan logo on the sign. The dojo is an apparently peaceful looking place and it is built along a hot spring.
  

Clan Hierarchy:

• Upper-Tier - Members of this class are usually pure bred people belonging to the clan. Members of this class rarely marry outside of the clan and are still subject to arranged marriages. The clan heads are chosen from the upper-tier, they decide on official clan matters. Upper-tier members are very religious and many of the children belonging to the upper tier are usually not given much free will. Despite the great wealth that comes with being upper tier, many of the children either become too arrogant or too cowardly to function. They have the large mansions most secure houses with a number of selected servants.
  
• Mid-Tier - Mid-tier members of this clan usually develop into skilled craftsmen. Despite not belonging to the upper-tier, most members of this class are usually still considered fairly wealthy. Most of the people in this class specialize in whatever field of art they choose and usually take pride in their art. They have fairly large houses with one or two servants.
  
• Lower-Tier - Lower tier members are usually non-religious and don’t practice many of the clan’s traditions. Usually, members of this clan are only kept due to the fact that they carry the clan name. Members of this clan are people who have married into the clan or are descendants of those that aren’t pure. Members of this tier are usually considered to be the less fortunate in society and are not given any privileges when it comes to clan matters. They are also kept out of the loop half the time. However, this does not mean that they are not allowed to train with the clan. They have normal sized houses with low security. Members of this class do not have servants, and may even choose to be servants.

Members of this clan pray to Hachiman, the god of archery and war.

  Most of this clan's jutsu are simply attacks that enhance the member's skill in Kyudo.
  

Clan History:

Three hundred years ago, the Yumiya clan was a division of ninja that specialized in archery. They were simply a fraction in an emperor’s army trained to assassinate people from ranged distances. The Yumiya fraction was a prestigious fraction that only allowed the most skilled archers to enter, and even then they were beaten and trained to their very best.

When the emperor lost the war, it resulted to the loss of his kingdom. From the Yumiya division, only Jukuren, Ita was left to pass on the style of specialized archery. Once Ita married with children, he taught his kids the things that he learned, in hopes of them passing it onto a larger generation. Ita was in love with the thought of his division resurfacing from the dead. Once he saw his children basically inheriting his skills, with what little money he had, he put up the first Yumiya Kyudojo.

They received several members. Two of the most skilled members, both female, ended up marrying Ita’s sons. They ended up continuing the tradition till eventually the clan grew strong in numbers. The dojo itself became prestigious enough to generate quite an amount in funds. Pretty soon, the Yumiya compound was built and a community was established.

However, Ita’s stringent upbringing and strict implementation of rules were seen as ideal traits and decided to be the technique to bringing up skilled archer children. Traditional clan members are usually from the upper tier of the clan after all.

Now the clan still remains in Kirigakure and the dojo was renovated several times to make it the state of the art establishment it is today.
