The History

Character History:
The Academy:
Tayoro was born with two older siblings and a mother and father. A long line of shinobi history awaited him, forcing him down the path that both of his parents and siblings had walked before. Forcing himself into his studies was not overly difficult but it did make him nervous. Living up to the expectations of your clan and family is never an easy task but Tayoro put his nose to the grindstone and made himself well known. As soon as the days of playing in the alleys and playgrounds of Kirigakure were replaced with days spent in the classroom, he made his presence fully known.

Teachers were impressed with his grasp on chakra control and his proficiency in various exotic weapon styles. His time at the academy was not spent only on the ninja arts but also to further his grasp on politics, philosophy, and psychology. Tayoro understood that ninja’s trafficked in information and warfare, but it was the information he was more interested in. The knowledge that was out there for him to find was simply mouth watering and his spare time was usually spent reading legends or learning histories that might lead him to some treasure trove of ancient information one day.

When the exams for graduations came, Tayoro scored in the middle of his class and shocked many of his teachers and family members. Despite his previous displays of proficiency in several skills it seemed that he was distracted throughout the process and could not entirely focus. To this day no one is quite sure what happened but he did earn his forehead protector and the rank of Genin regardless.  Under the surface though, something different was occurring.

The Real World:
With his graduation finished, Tayoro seemed to disappear for a time. His missions were with a team far from regularly active and who seemed to only be assigned menial tasks around the town. Escorting minorly important people, cleaning up the barracks, and other things that many other genin never even dealt with after their graduation were the bread and butter of Tayoro; but then again the group that received these tasks were part of that middle of the pack graduates who really showed nothing special during the exams.

In truth, Tayoro spent most of his time out of view of the public and quite the recluse. Many times he was found in the library, asleep over books that he was reading, and woken only for him to rush out of the library late for a meeting or mission of some sort. His parents were mildly disappointed at the level of missions he was receiving but quite satisfied with his determination to better himself constantly so their complaints were minor. Being away from the public eye gave him more time to study and obsess over his love of information.

There was one other mystery about his time as a genin that was never fully solved. Despite his relatively harmless missions, it was not uncommon for him to show signs of injury or distress. He often seemed more worn out than he should have and all too eager to brush the subject of bruises and cuts under the rug. With time, and several more menial missions completed, he eventually earned the right to test for Chuunin and barely managed to pass the exams. Being assigned his rank last, it seemed only by luck did he end up becoming a chuunin at all. Many even suspect it was more out of pity than true shinobi ability. Tayoro ignored that particular rumor and immediately started taking missions out in the field.

Life and Death:
Tayoro’s unit had plenty of complaints about him. He seemed unfocused, always a step behind, and somewhat careless. His mistakes in the field were numerous and despite many attempts to push him to another squad, he was kept with the same unit for the first year of his promotion. Unfortunately this lack of attention to detail and constant aloofness eventually led the event that ended his shinobi career. A careless mistake on a mission nearly took his life and placed him in a hospital bed with several painful surgeries.

Out of honor for his injuries he immediately resigned as a shinobi and became a clerk around the city working for this or that official who needed an errand ran. Most of the time he worked with the same officials who handed out missions and requested that Tayoro deliver summons and other documents personally. He found enjoyment in the job and the access it brought to the headquarters of the Kirigakure Shinobi. Many felt it kept him connected to his, now out of reach, dream of being a great shinobi like his siblings. Still, the wound to his arm left it all but useless and it was still mostly paralyzed outside of some movement he could perform with his fingers. Still, his job was an honorable one and he always seemed to have a smile on his face.

These Days:
Tayoro spends most of his time wandering around the military facilities of Kirigakure doing his every day jobs. Nights are still usually spent at the library and despite the injury, to which he has adapted to by this point, he still is all smiles. Soon he would likely be promoted to some sort of official and begin handling the assignment of missions himself. Or maybe even becoming a teacher and talking of tactics and strategy in the field. Whatever his future, it would obviously be far from the battlefield. Still, he holds onto his headband with pride and probably a great deal of sentimentality.

Role-play Sample:
Tayoro hurried up the steps into the barracks for shinobi, shouldering his way past a team returning from the field to report in. The barracks were always bustling it seemed, full of shinobi coming too and from the field while others reserved private training rooms or found themselves in the general public gym that allowed for self improvement when the rest of one’s team was not present. If Tayoro was honest, he did not miss these training rooms or the gym much. He was a much bigger fan of the library after all. Still, the sight of shinobi around him brought to mind his arm and the injury it sustained. It was highly unlikely he would see the field again as part of a shinobi team of Kirigakure. At least Tayoro could still spend his time supporting the ninja of his village in the only manner he could at the moment. As a courier and desk clerk for military affairs.

Today’s folder of requests was much thicker than usual and a peak at them had allowed him to catch a pattern. The front between Kumogakure, now a ghost of its former glorious self, and Konohagakure was quite active. Many requests were being launched from the area by residents of the Land of Lightning since their own shinobi village had recently found itself unable to handle the volume of requests from its people anymore. A distressing harbinger for Cloud ninja, but a great chance to expand the Mist coffers with cash and owed favors.

Upon arriving at his destination, Tayoro walked through the door and out of the hallway. Once closed, it seemed to silence the hustle and bustle outside of the room and allowed him to deliver the reports and requests to the officers on duty himself with a brief bow of respect. He took his place behind a short table with a book opened for transcribing the assignments of the day by this group of individuals, detailing which team would head where. He beamed as he listened to the officers speak amongst themselves while he sorted out his station.

“You realize this mission is in Land of Fire, it will have to be discreetly managed.”

“We’ll send an ANBU unit to it then, the danger level is below their abilities and the offered payment is more than substantial. Set that one aside for later and send team eleven in.”

Tayoro grinned.
