The Closer Look

General Overview:

The Yuki clan lived in the Land of Water, more specifically Kirigakure. Some time ago, the country was in the midst of a civil war. In this war, different sides battled each other using ninja, some of whom possessed kekkei genkai. After the war ended, memories of the horrific battles still lingered in the minds of the people, causing wide-spread persecutions against those with kekkei genkai. Because of this, the Yuki clan, whose members carried the Ice Release kekkei genkai went into hiding. Now, the clan is only beginning to piece itself back together, though it has not developed anything close to community yet. Still, members of this clan tend to be very isolated, and/or protective of their family as well as the bloodline. Additionally, members of the Yuki clan make excellent shinobi, due to their agile bodies.

Members of the Yuki clan are often of a more lean, agile body type. Exceptions would include those not fully from the Yuki's genetic code, in which case, this trait does not apply. Because of their limber bodies, the Yuki clan members are known as some of the fastest shinobi in Kirigakure. In fact, many of the clan's ninjutsu require high speed levels to become ultimately effective. Starting Yuki clan members gain an additional 10 points in their speed stat upon creation. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of five starting stat skill points; essentially, by paying five of the skill points you get upon character creation, you get ten points placed in the speed skill. Additional skill points can be placed in speed should you wish to continue the character's skill further still.

Single Handed Seals.

Yuki clan members seem to be naturally adept with one handed seals, when using jutsu of their own clan. It has been discovered that this is because Yuki clan techniques seem to use less of the shinobi's overall chakra network, and it is thus more easily confined into a single handed seal. It is said that this characteristic makes it harder for sharingan and byakugan to recognize the flow of chakra within a Yuki member's body.

Clan Combat:

• Kekkei Genkai: Ice Release (氷遁, Hyōton; Literally "Ice Style") is the advanced nature kekkei genkai of the Yuki clan, and allows the users to combine wind and water-based chakra to create ice which they can manipulate through willpower alone. Ice release is surprisingly resilient to fire element attacks, just as it is resilient to most attacks. While Ice release possesses no explicit elemental weakness, it is strong against lightning style attacks and defenses, able to defend against and overpower lightning jutsu of a single rank higher.
  
• Hījutsu: One of the rare clans to possess both kekkei genkai and hījutsu, the Yuki is also the wielder of a secret style ninjutsu. An off breed of their own element, they are able to produce a sort of hardened water, as if nearly frozen. This water is used in both attacks and defenses by clan members. It is hypothesized that this half state of ice and water represents the Yuki clan member's progression with elemental control over time, as if this was the learning stages of their bloodline limit. It is possible to conceive similar techniques, such as the case with Yukigakure shinobi.

While the needles do surround a target from all sides, they don't appear directly above the target, creating an escape route. The user is able to perform this jutsu with one-handed seals, allowing him/her to pin an opponent's arm and attack while they cannot use any techniques themselves.

Description: After a technique specific hand seal, the user creates multiple mirrors of ice around the enemy, reflecting nothing but their own image; the user is then able to actually enter the mirrors, and join the reflections. The opponent is thus trapped in a dome of twenty-one floating mirrors made out of ice. Twelve remain at ground level, eight float above the first twelve and angled towards the ground, and the final mirror is above the rest and facing the ground. Once the user has entered the mirrors, it's possible for him/her to move between the mirrors at incredible speeds.

As such, it's very difficult to follow attacks sent out from this incredible movement. As every mirror shows the user's reflection, it's increasingly difficult to see the user's ranged attacks. Even when the opponent tries to attack the real body, the user is likely to move to another mirror. Without sensory abilities, it is very difficult to defeat this abominable technique. C rank level jutsu are able to destroy four mirrors at a time, B rank eight, and A ranked ninjutsu is theoretically capable of destroying the entire mirror formation.

If the mirror the user is in is broken, they will fall from the formation, and all of the mirrors will shatter, ending the jutsu. The user will take heavy damage from this, greatly degrading their stamina and endurance. Should this occur, the user will have cuts running all along their bodies, some of which can be relatively deep. The technique requires a large amount of chakra to maintain, so the user's movements becomes progressively slower the longer he/she maintains the jutsu.

At A rank, the user can also form individual mirrors, not restricted to the twenty-one-mirror formation. He/she can create them high in the sky allowing them to attack airborne targets. When the jutsu is used in this method, the mirrors are unable to be created beyond thirty meters from the user. Also, only one mirror can be created with this more ranged version of the jutsu. The cold which emanates from the mirrors is also enough to cause snow to fall.
