Puppet Guide & TemplateSo you have made a puppet user then? Puppetry is the art of fine chakra control and precise hand movements. These jutsu revolve around the use of extending chakra like strings that attach to things in order to use them at a higher range, and with more mobility than might be expected. Most puppet users actually use puppets that are built like weapons, however a puppet user can use the same jutsu to pick up weapons, and other things and use them as such. Advanced enough puppet users can even latch their puppet strings onto living people, and manipulate them as if they were a puppet. These puppets, in most cases, have hidden weapons, or even poisonous chambers that can be used to gain an edge in battle. Puppet users, seeing as they have a very different and unique style of combat then most other ninja, have their own basic set of systems and rules that they live by. Below are the basic rules that define what a puppet user can and can't do:
One:This is the first and most important rule is the puppeteer. In order to use and manipulate a puppet, the user must be in control and be able to use the puppet strings ninjutsu. This jutsu is listed in the canon jutsu for use, as well as below for member's convenience:
- Puppet Control Jutsu:
Name: Kugutsu – Puppetry Strings
Rank: E
Type: Puppetry
Element: --
Range: 12 meters
Clan: --
Description: Kugutsu no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique that allows a ninja to use a puppet to attack from afar. Using their body's chakra, the ninja emits strings of chakra that run from their fingers to the puppet. The puppet itself can be loaded with many weapons and tools, allowing the puppet master to remain hidden while the puppet moves and attacks the target.

Each puppet is to be built with the same template. The template is listed below:

In order to give you the basics without running you over with detail, I'll explain each of the categories above. The name goes without much advice, I'd hope. Just name your puppet whatever you want. Puppet rank is the rank of the puppet; note that it cannot exceed your own rank. Puppets can range in rank, but they will only be able to be used at your current rank, and there are other rules on that. Puppet description is where you place writing about what your puppet looks like. There should be a good solid paragraph (seven sentences, no less) of writing here, and if you can a picture would be great. If you do add a picture, and it is good and shows the puppet, then the writing does not have to be as concentrated. But that is up to the moderator checking the application. Puppet devices are devices that the puppet has. Devices and weapons are explained later in this guide. However, you are not to put the actual device template here - just the name of the device. I would expect to see "Senbon Launcher" listed as a weapon, and that would be it. The template is added below the puppet template. Origin talks about the history of the puppet, and how it came to be. If there is a particular story behind the puppet, you can talk about it there.
Now, each device and weapon has its own template, and I will give you the template for that as well. What is more, I will show you what a completed puppet might look like. Below are the templates for devices and weapons:
Name:Appearance:Rank:Range:Special Abilities: - Code:
-
[b]Name:[/b]
[b]Appearance:[/b]
[b]Rank:[/b]
[b]Range:[/b]
[b]Special Abilities:[/b]
Quick! Another super fast tutorial on how to fill these templates out. First of all, these templates are placed under the puppet's main application, and this will be shown in the completed example below. Name is the name of the item. Be creative. Have fun. Go nuts. Rank is the rank of the item. Keep in mind the range and basic power of the item/device/weapon when you are giving it the rank. Range is how far the weapon/device/item/whatever can be used at. A senbon launcher can shoot "x" meters, and "x" would be the range. Special abilities are how the item/device/weapon functions. Senbon launchers shoot senbon. Storage compartments hold things. Those are special abilities. As the rank of the puppet increases, these special abilities are able to expand in their power and usefulness. Enough said.
- Example Puppet With Additional Template:
Puppet Name:Crow
Puppet Creator: Kankuro
Puppet Rank:(Rank)
Puppet Description:And I am supposed to write something here, something rather substantial, but I think that we all know what Crow looks like, and is like since we have all most likely watched the anime or read the manga. As such, I don't need to write much here, but you certainly do. Give height, weight, different important measurements - all that good stuff. That way we can know what we're dealing with, and what is more, you can know what you are dealing with. Good deal? Awesome! Moving on!
Puppet Devices:Puppet Weapons:Origin:This is a puppet that was made by the legendary Sasori of the sand, a man that actually killed the Kazekage and ended up turning his body into a puppet. Puppets made by this mean were known for their superb abilities and craftiness. Crow is one of many puppets made by Sasori. I should be writing more here, but no one really reads origin, so this should do. Don't try this at home kids.
--------------------------------------------
Weapons And Devices:--------------------------------------------
Name:Senbon Launcher
Appearance:Put something here. I'll give it a shot: this is actually part of Crow's mouth. Crow's mouth will open up with the proper movements of the user's chakra strings, and allow a senbon launcher to take aim at the target. Because of the darkness of the mouth, it is often hard to see the mechanical device inside of the mouth, and thus can be used in a surprise attack fashion.
Rank: C
Range:10 Meters
Special Abilities:Shoots senbon at a rate of ten senbon per second. This senbon launcher can hold ____ amount of senbon before it needs to be reloaded. Reloading happens like this: blah, blah, blah. Done. Be good here.
Two:Because of the complex nature of a puppet, including all of the joints, hidden components, and differing weapons, no puppet can be below C rank in terms of how advanced it is. This means that there can be no E rank or D rank puppets. This is non negotiable, and this rule will be followed unless you have admin permission that states otherwise; and this is only if the puppet being made at a lower rank has no weapons, no devices, and has a very simple body structure. While this is the case, however, weapons, and devices can be lower than C rank, while the puppet cannot.
Three:Upon puppet creation, each puppet will come installed with two free weapon or device slots. This means that your puppet can have up to two weapons, or two devices, or one of each. The different between a weapon and a device is simple: while a weapon serves a clearly offensive purpose, such as a senbon launcher, kunai launcher, or retractable arm blade, a device can be a passive addition to the puppet, or something installed that is not directly offensive, such as hidden compartments to store things, or a thick piece of metal used for defensive purposes.
Four:Puppets that are C rank (or in the case of admin permission lower than C rank) are unable to be used in combination with jutsu, and are thus considered not chakra conductible. This means that, while devices and weapon attachments can be used on C rank and below puppets, no other jutsu can be used from the puppet's point of view. When the puppet becomes B rank, however, it become able to conduct the user's chakra and form jutsu as if it were a ninja. Chakra used in this fashion comes directly from the user's chakra tank - the chakra is sent down through the chakra strings and into the appropriate formation like a meridian system.
Five:Depending on the rank at which the puppet user is, a different amount of puppets is allowed to be owned, and built. This is not the same as the amount of puppets that the user can actually use in battle, and that will be covered as well. Below are the differing ranks, and what they can and cannot do:
C Rank:A C rank ninja can build two puppets in total, however can only use one puppet in battle. This is non negotiable.
B Rank:A B rank ninja can build three puppets, however can only use two puppets in battle. This is non negotiable.
A Rank:An A rank ninja can build five puppets, however can only use four puppets in battle. This is non negotiable.
S Rank:An S rank ninja can build seven puppets, however can only use six puppets in battle. This is non negotiable.
Six:A puppet user can use and create poisons, using a single weapons/devices slot. Poisons are unique to puppet users, and medical ninjutsu users, other than a few clan based exceptions. Below is the poison template, as well as a basic outline of how to create them slightly more in depth:
- Poison Template & Basic Creation Guide:
- Code:
-
[b]Name of Poison:[/b]
[b]Level of Poison:[/b]
[b]Poison Timer:[/b]
[b]Description:[/b]
Name of Poison:This is extremely self explanatory, and should not require too much thought. Just name the poison what you want it to be named. If you are using a real poison or chemical, name it that please. If you are making something up, name it what you want. Simple as that.
Level of Poison:This is done in ranks E-S rank poison. No one can make poisons that outrank them, and thus the poison can only be at or below your current ninja rank. The rank of the poison normally refers to its potency, effect, and the time it takes to take effect. This should be mostly a test of basic logic, but if the rank does not add up to the effects, a staff will let you know upon creation.
Poison Timer:This is a number of posts it takes to take effect, and what happens during the posts. A good poison timer should look something like this:
Post one - no symptoms
Post two - slight drowsiness
Post three - victim feels heavy, and suffers from a 5% speed decrease
Post four - victim feels heavier, and suffers from a 10% speed decreaseOf course this is a very basic timer, and the symptoms should be more explains than that. Those that wish to go the extra mile can add when the effects of the poison take place within a single post. Understand that lower ranked poisons should take a longer time to take effect, and should grow in effect gradually, where as a higher ranked poison may act instantly or quickly with more lethal and noticeable effects.
Description: This is everything else that is not covered in the above information. What is the poison made of. Where did you find the materials. What is its color, what is its normal form (solid, liquid, gas, etc), among other things. This should also serve as a larger explanation as to how and what it does to the victim. Know that just because this is your poison does not mean that you are automatically immune to the poison should you also be hit with it - unless you have an antidote. This needs to be very descriptive, and take up a full paragraph (that means five to seven sentences).
Seven:Although each puppet starts out with twp free weapon/device slots, each puppet can only have a certain amount of slots period. This is highly dependent on the puppet's rank. Below is a small guide showing which puppets can have how many device/weapon slots at what ranks. As a puppet advances in rank, should it be a scaling rank puppet, it will unlock slots of its rank:
C Rank:C rank puppets can only have a maximum of two weapon/device slots.
B Rank:B rank puppets can only have a maximum of three weapon/device slots.
A Rank:A rank puppets can only have a maximum of five weapon/device slots.
S Rank:S rank puppets can only have a maximum of eight weapon/device slots.
Eight:When a puppet user becomes elite, otherwise known as S ranked, they will be able to apply for a special ability, which is one of the perks of the puppet specialization. This perk comes with a complete mastery of puppet style combat, and can only come if the ninja has puppet style as their main combat style, not sub or third. This perk can only come with admin permission. Pretty much, when a ninja that specializes in puppetry becomes S rank, they have the ability to build themselves into a puppet, similar to how we see Chiyo or Sasori do it in the anime. This is risky, and takes time to do, however, as well as having a separate set of requirements. Completely changing one's body into a puppet is even more risky and hard to come by.
Who does these surgeries, and transformations, you might ask; advanced medical ninja do. Only S rank medical ninja that have medical ninjutsu as their primary or secondary, or A rank medical ninja with medical ninjutsu as their primary specialty can perform these kinds of surgeries. What is more, the puppet component must be made, approved, and purchased/trained like a weapon or jutsu would be, filled out out out to the puppet's template. Because of the gap in experience levels between the A rank and S rank level ninja, there is a difference in the word count needed for the topics in which the puppet convergence is happening. While the puppeteer is transformed into the puppet as reward of the topic, the medical and fuuinjutsu using characters get an additional 10% bonus to their PAC scores for the topic.
A Rank Medics With Medical Ninjutsu Primary:
Total of 12,000 words to perform the procedure. Patient must heal for one real life week.
S Rank Medics With Medical Ninjutsu Primary:
Total of 6,000 words to perform the procedure. Patient must heal for four real life days.
S Rank Medics With Medical Ninjutsu Secondary:
Total of 8,000 words to perform the procedure. Patient must heal for five real life days.
Healing means that the character cannot be rped with in any other conditions other than being hospitalized, and bed ridden. Any attack on a character who is within this healing bracket is a auto hit due to their vulnerability; this is the case unless a third party intervenes.Should the user wish to turn themselves completely into a puppet, like our dear Sasori, then an additional 6,000 words must be added to each of the topics without negotiation. What is more, the puppet's body must be filled out in the puppet template in great detail. One of the biggest things that must be explained in the full puppet body is how the user will still live within wood or metal without a beating heart, or working organs and the likes. Because of this, a fuuinjutsu user may also be required to be within the topic in which the puppet body is installed, replacing the individual's own. This fuuinjutsu user must fit the same requirements as the medical ninja when performing a surgery of this level, and must be able to seal something like a willing life essence into a container, for example something like what Sasori had on his chest. This means that the fuuinjutsu user must already have the required/specified jutsu to do so before the topic.
What is more, being of the appropriate rank does mean that you are good to go. The medical ninja must have the following things in order to perform the surgery:
One:
Medics need a medical jutsu that targets the area of surgery they are performing, such as the eyes, arms, legs, etc. This jutsu can be no lower in rank than A rank or else the surgery will fail. Failure in the surgery results in the individual going under surgery to die, unless further, advanced medical precautions can be taken.
Two:
They need an A rank or above healing jutsu for basic healing during and after the procedure.
Three:
They need a B Rank or above sterilizing jutsu to make sure that the puppet additions do not cause infection, and are thus not rejected by the body. All of the above is only through admin permission, and will only be given out sparingly.
Have fun!
